Transport is one of the most important issues in urban planning. Streets and squares as well as the railway network are parts of the framework of the city's spatial structure. The way this network is organized, as well as the shape of the city's urban structure, significantly influences the transport choices of its inhabitants. Currently transport, especially mechanized one consumes energy and space and it is a source of many pollutants. So it is ex-tremely important to promote sustainable mobility.
The aim of the article is to analyze the existing data regarding transportation cities in the Netherlands and to confront that data with analysis of urban structure of previously mentioned cities. Research should provide answers to what extend the size or the structure of the city is impacting its mobility model and what kind of city is better for development of sustainable mobility modes, especially walking and cycling.
