The article presents partial results of research conducted on modernistic architecture and recreational urban planning in Greater Poland in the summer of 2021 and 2022. The study concerns a summer resort: a temporary or long-term recreation facility for tourists in Greater Poland. The author presents comprehensive view of summer houses established in Greater Poland between 1945 and 1989 respective to Greater Poland Voivodeship from the communist period before the administrative reform of 1975. The research aiming to classily recreational structures was carried out using the historical and interpretative method in which local visions were very important. As a result, the common features of buildings were defined, allowing the identification of types of recreational structures: large - providing complex functionality and small – with limited offering). It was determined where in Wielkopolska Voivodeship summer resorts were established and to which type they belong. The study indicates special cases that are not covered by the topology used.
