ABSTRACT
Every urban context is marked by time and the spirit of the place. The task of contem-porary architecture is not only to meet the current and future needs of its users, but also to correspond with the past of the space belonging to it. The aim of the article is to examine the circumstances of the creation of selected modern office architecture, which result from its autonomous social context or characteristics of the identity of the place. Five office buildings with an unconventional appearance and form or a unique and non-obvious func-tional program were selected for analysis. The research process used an analysis of litera-ture and planning documents, photographic documentation, building plans and descrip-tions provided by the authors of the objects. The collected data was subjected to an in-depth architectural, functional and urban analysis. The aim of the research is to show the originality of selected office architecture created as a result of the interference of exoge-nous factors related to their history, urban-social structure and local conditions. The results of the study are intended to emphasize the essence of knowledge of the broadly under-stood context of the history of the place for modern office buildings. The final result of the research is to determine the role of exogenous historical factors in the design process of office architecture.
