ABSTRACT
The research focused on healing architecture of healthcare facilities is no longer anything new. The progressing trends of improving health through design postulate divergence from the past models of hospital architecture. The new trends stress the importance of the quality of space of facilities for temporary or permanent healthcare. Our awarness of the impact of the hospital architecture on the health and well-being of patients increases, thus, their health condition and experience are becoming priorities, among others. Can we extrapolate this know-how to a wider context of the built environment? The article aims to identify new needs and new research opportunities concerning the interactions between the city and its inhabitants. Modern demographic tendencies and the process of urbanisation are bound to enforce changes in urban development strategies (including architectural design and urban planning). It seems vital to continue further research in the area of the science of human nature with which to design space improving health and stimulating mental and physical condition of its users and their social interactions. The article presents new methods of data collection in order to analyse the urban space quality in view of the needs of its users
