ABSTRACT
The article presents the scope and course of the inventory practice and the challenges faced by the students during the field classes conducted in the buildings of the district ho-spital in Międzychód. Elements of architectural education are discussed, as well as the didactic goals of surveying inventories. The authors present the basic principles and measu-rement methods that were used to develop the building documentation - both in the basic and extended scope, including the analysis and graphical representation of the functional structure of the hospital complex. At the same time, the complex historical, structural and functional structure of the faci-lity is described, providing an interesting example of the development of medical services on the scale of a county town and the accompanying construction projects. The staging of these processes, as well as changes in the use of hospital spaces under the conditions of a functioning facility, exemplify work on a “living organism.” Conducting fieldwork under such conditions was a challenge that the students and their supervisors successfully met. The developed building inventory provides valuable support for further scientific rese-arch into the existing hospital structure, as well as enabling the creation of coordinated models of good design practices in the health care field.
