ABSTRACT
The aim of the research is to analyze the cognitive aspects of the creative process in architectural drawing, which is a record of the perception of space and creative transformations that shape the ability to create spatial relationships, as well as metaphors. The creative process is based on the relationship between perception, analysis, and notation related to selection and transformation. Research in the field of cognitive science and neurocognitive science is a valuable source of information on visual perception and helps to verbalize problems that arise in the process of creation. The relationship between cognitive science and visual perception is therefore the starting point for the analysis, which will be carried out on the example of artistic projects by students of the Faculty of Architecture of the Poznań University of Technology. The article presents and descriptively analyzes three different exercises involving the creation of space in the form of drawing. The different assumptions will allow to examine various cognitive aspects implemented in the architectural drawing. The author drawing projects concern the issues of the functioning of architectural motifs in drawing composition. The wide potential of space reinterpretation in drawing constitute research material whose comparative analysis serves to learn the relationships that build the artistic form in the process of creating space inspired by architecture. The transposition of the observed forms onto a plane, their categorization and classification make it possible to obtain a clear record of a compositionally ordered space.
